Professional Development

PRESENTATION SKILLS

Designed for professionals with little or no presentation experience, this course teaches the core skills of public speaking and helps participants establish a comfort level in front of an audience. Participants also learn strategies for creating more powerful presentations, including how to incorporate PowerPoint documents and other audio/visual aids. This is a highly interactive program. Participants have multiple opportunities to present in front of the class and will receive continual feedback from their peers and the instructor. All presentations are videotaped, and each participant receives a copy along with detailed analysis.

DIVERSITY

When an organization builds a workforce that represents almost every cultural background and perspective imaginable, it has built what can be a great asset. This class is designed to help participants embrace, understand, and respect -- as well as leverage -- the important differences that comprise a diverse workplace. Participants will share their experiences with cultural diversity and learn from interacting with others in a safe and confidential setting.

MANAGING CONFLICT

This course focuses on ways to effectively approach and mitigate workplace conflict. At the heart of this workshop is the premise that an increased ability to develop and maintain good working relationships is directly correlated to increased productivity and profitability. Participants will gain the tools to shift workplace conflicts into problem-solving opportunities. Participants learn to develop adaptive strategies for dealing with difficult interactions in the workplace, including conflicts involving strong emotions. They also learn processes and skills designed to systematically reconcile disagreements. This program discusses proven communication techniques that lead to more effective conflict resolution, leveraging case studies and role-playing to provide all participants with practice and feedback.

Leadership Development

BECOMING A MANAGER

This class is designed for people making the challenging transition from individual contributor to supervisor or manager. Participants will learn the core skills of management - delegating, coaching and feedback, communication - and also identify or clarify their management style and professional standards. Additionally, the class will addresses strategies for immediately establishing oneself as a leader. Participants will discuss their experiences of being managed, both positive and negative, and learn how to avoid common pitfalls.

CHANGE MANAGEMENT

The one constant within organizations is change. Successful professionals are able not only to deal with change personally but know how to lead others through it as well. In this course, participants will learn how to best anticipate and handle change in the workplace (re-orgs, restructuring, etc) using our 5-stage change model. Additional focus will be given to helping participants assist the people they work with and support to handle the various changes they face as a team.

DELEGATING FOR RESULTS

When do you delegate? To whom, and how often? These are just some of the questions that can confound new and experienced managers alike. This course gives participants an opportunity to identify and explore their individual delegation styles, and to address both common and personal barriers to effective delegation. In this course, participants create delegation plans tailored to the specific individuals they manage. Developed with class and instructor feedback, that plan will focus on tangible goals and action steps.

Management Seminars

CUSTOMIZED MULTI-DAY SEMINARS FOCUSED ON LEADERSHIP & MANAGEMENT PRACTICES

PCI specializes in creating customized, multi-day seminars centered on the leadership and management practices your organization values most. We have designed and facilitated seminars for hundreds of business professionals in the U.S, Europe and Asia, and our seminars consistently exceed the expectations of the participants. We regularly work with senior leaders, newly appointed managers, and high potentials. Our methodology combines research and practical skill application with psychology, incorporating exercises that encourage team-building and developing self-awareness. Upon completion of the seminar, every member of each group receives a one-on-one coaching session in which we discuss and leverage strengths, highlight areas for improvement as well as career blockers, and finally lay out a performance improvement plan.

Team Building

ONE TO THREE DAY TEAMBUILDING SEMINARS

PCI offers one to three day teambuilding seminars for new and intact groups, teams and departments. These seminars are action packed but also teach powerful lessons in group dynamics, communication, decision-making and team development. The sessions are both experiential and theory driven. Participants will increase their awareness of the roles they individually play in groups while building strong bonds and getting a greater understanding of their colleagues. These sessions are rich in feedback and informed by our backgrounds in organizational and counseling psychology. Not to mention that they are generally good fun!
